On October 11th, 2024, the Minister of State for Youth and Arts in Rwanda, Hon. Sandrine Umutoni, paid a courtesy visit to Hon. Egyapa Mercer at his office in Accra. Hon. Umutoni was in Ghana’s capital to attend the African Cinema Summit (ACS), where she participated as a guest.

During her visit, Hon. Umutoni and Hon. Mercer discussed ways to further strengthen the bilateral relations between Ghana and Rwanda. The two countries already have a range of agreements in place, including a General Cooperation Agreement (GCA), a bilateral Air Service Agreement, and an Agreement for the establishment of a Joint Permanent Commission. Additionally, both nations have signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in sectors such as defense and security cooperation, private sector collaboration, tourism, arts and culture, financial cooperation, and trade and economic development.

Hon. Mercer reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to advancing these ongoing partnerships and emphasized the importance of consolidating knowledge and expertise to enhance the mutual benefits from the existing agreements. He expressed his satisfaction with the visit, which he viewed as an opportunity to further strengthen the collaboration between Ghana and Rwanda.
