Beyond the Return guests ought to become familiar with Ghanaian culture.

Ben Brako, a Highlife artist, has urged international visitors to Ghana who are part of the Beyond the Return initiative to learn more about Ghana.

While applauding the initiative, he also pointed out that the majority of these visitors came to Ghana with the intention of enlightening the populace.

“I believe it’s a great idea, but I’m not sure if it was carried out as planned. Another problem from the perspective of the returnees is that some of them do not view it correctly since they believe they are here to illuminate and brighten the lives of those who are in the dark. They ought to come study and comprehend some of the fundamental aspects of who they are, in my opinion.”

He feels that there are many positive aspects of Ghanaian tradition and culture that should be promoted to the outside world.

Following the Year of Return Ghana festival in 2019, “Beyond the Return” honours the 400th anniversary of the arrival of the first Africans in recorded slavery in Jamestown, Virginia, in 1619.
